FAQ
ANSWERS TO YOUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY SOY WAX?
Soy wax is natural clean burning wax derived from a vegetable - soybeans. Soy is a renewable resource most soy wax is harvested right here in the US. All of the soy wax purchased for our candles is responsibly harvested and sustainably grown. Soy wax is biodegradable and cleans up with soap and water. Soy wax has a lower melting point than other waxes thus lasting longer.
WHY WOOD WICKS?
We wanted a natural wick free of chemicals. Plus we adore the atmosphere of a campfire and the slight crackle sound that a wood wick makes. Its a cozy addition to the amber flame and warms the soul.
ARE WOOD WICKS LOUD AS THEY BURN?
No, it does crackle softly, and if you are not used to the sound it may be slightly different and noticeable at first. However, once you get used to a wood wick candle chances are you will enjoy it over a standard candle wick. We that find the crackle comes alive on the second burn and beyond. The first burn is slow going, but very important because you the want the melt pool to reach the edges of your jar to avoid tunneling.
WHAT ELSE IS IN YOUR CANDLES?
We want you to have the cleanest burning candle possible so we have only three ingredients. - 100% soy wax, natural wood wicks, and premium quality fragrance and/or essential oil blends. That's it! No chemicals, no additives, nothing you can't pronounce. That is very important to us.
HOW ARE YOUR CANDLES MADE?
All of our candles are hand poured right in our store in small batches. Every part of the candle process someone is touching the product to ensure the finest quality product is made with love and care. Because everything is made in small batch style this ensures that the product is the freshest it can be. We are stocked in locations all over the US. For our wholesale customers, all of our candles are made to order.
HOW QUICKLY CAN I GET MY ORDER?
For online purchases, depending on our in store stock the product will be made to order. Our processing times range from 2-5 days for retail orders and 5-10 days for wholesale orders.
I CAN'T GET MY CANDLE TO LIGHT, WHAT GIVES?
The initial light on your wood wick candle is important. Ensure that it burns long enough ( approximately 1 hour) on the first light so the wax pool reaches the outer edge of the jar. This will ensure an even wax pool without tunneling which can drown out the wick. It also is important to keep wood wicks trimmed to 1/4 or less and free of black char to keep them burning and crackling properly. Simply break or scrape off the char and discard it before each burn.
HOW DO I PREVENT TUNNELING?
Soy wax has a memory and will only burn as far as it did on the previous burn. It is important to allow the melt pool reach the edges of the jar on every burn. This will prevent the candle from burning down the middle.
WHY IS MY WHITE CANDLE TURNING YELLOW?
We do not add UV inhibitors to our candles or any other unnecessary chemicals. As such, if left exposed to direct or indirect light, your candle may darken. In addition, some of the fragrance oils may have a natural yellowish color which can color the wax slightly. We suggest storing your candle in a cool dark place to keep fresh looking. If your candle does darken, or has a slight frosting of the surface, don't be alarmed - it does not affect the burn or quality at all.
